Transparency versus Excavation. Paint alone never feels fully satisfying. What does it mean to take care of a thing - family legacies, histories, pathologies and an archive where there has historically not been an archive? Something that captures like a net or a cage, unbuttoned and realigned. A certain, almost paternal, sense of masculinity and intimacy. What it means to restore bodies: creating these dictionaries of black body parts. The body absent figure. Belly buttons and umbilical spaces. The integration of objects and relationships is a quicker way to create ideas into something real. Start to tell a story and other people get to share in that story.
