Yikui (Coy) Gu

Coy-AE

I used our relationship as the starting point to explore larger questions - the politics of us.  Centering the work around our interracial and immigrant experience.  There’s always a contrast between her and I in addition to the usage of different materials.  The infinitely reproducible versus the unique, the one-of-one.  Where does the spirit come in?  Looking for expressions you can misconstrue.  Subverting expressions and position.  Echoing our relationship.  Growth comes out of discomfort.  Irreverence. I’m going to look online for images of screaming soldiers.
