BYO Printmaking Collaborative

byo

BYO Print is a nonprofit organization recognized as a 501(c)3 charity, educating artists and the public about printmaking by providing access to a printmaking studio and equipment; and conducts artist residencies, internships, public art exhibits, collaborative printmaking, and other activities. BYO Print was co-founded by women artists as a shared printmaking studio in Philadelphia, with the mission to keep artists printing on their own time within a reasonable budget. We've been printing together and enabling others to do the same since 2010. Co-founders Katie VanVliet and Lauren Fischer opened the printshop during Philagrafika 2010, a citywide printmaking festival and conference, in a modest, grungy loft overlooking a motorcycle shop in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. Over the years, new members and new equipment prompted us to seek bigger and brighter workspace. In 2013 we moved the whole shop to Sharktown Studios, in the Old Kensington neighborhood. We make artwork, learn from each other, and create opportunities for collaboration through our special projects.
