Rebecca Chappell is a ceramicist whose works investigate the relationship between form and surface design as covert instruments for carrying messages. Chappell’s candlesticks were inspired by disruptive patterning, such as the stripes on a zebra or the spots of a cheetah, a particular type of camouflage that has the ability to obliterate mass and disturb an object’s profile in order to confuse either predator or prey.
